Overview
An official Census 2011 detail of Anantapur, a district of Andhra Pradesh has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Andhra Pradesh. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh.


Population
In 2011, Anantapur had population of 4,081,148 of which male and female were 2,064,495 and 2,016,653 respectively. In 2001 census, Anantapur had a population of 3,640,478 of which males were 1,859,588 and remaining 1,780,890 were females. Anantapur District population constituted 4.83 percent of total Maharashtra population. In 2001 census, this figure for Anantapur District was at 4.78 percent of Maharashtra population.


Density Of Population:
The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that density of Anantapur district for 2011 is 213 people per sq. km. In 2001, Anantapur district density was at 190 people per sq. km. Anantapur district administers 19,130 square kilometers of areas.


Literacy Rate:
Average literacy rate of Anantapur in 2011 were 63.57 compared to 56.13 of 2001. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy were 73.02 and 53.97 respectively. For 2001 census, same figures stood at 68.38 and 43.34 in Anantapur District. Total literate in Anantapur District were 2,310,960 of which male and female were 1,338,474 and 972,486 respectively. In 2001, Anantapur District had 1,774,088 in its district.



Sex Ratio:
With regards to Sex Ratio in Anantapur, it stood at 977 per 1000 male compared to 2001 census figure of 958. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per latest reports of Census 2011 Directorate. In 2011 census, child sex ratio is 927 girls per 1000 boys compared to figure of 959 girls per 1000 boys of 2001 census data.


Child Population:
In census enumeration, data regarding child under 0-6 age were also collected for all districts including Anantapur. There were total 445,956 children under age of 0-6 against 479,853 of 2001 census. Of total 445,956 male and female were 231,369 and 214,587 respectively. Child Sex Ratio as per census 2011 was 927 compared to 959 of census 2001. In 2011, Children under 0-6 formed 10.93 percent of Anantapur District compared to 13.18 percent of 2001. There was net change of -2.25 percent in this compared to previous census of India.

Anantapur District Urban Population 2011

Out of the total Anantapur population for 2011 census, 28.07 percent lives in urban regions of district. In total 1,145,711 people lives in urban areas of which males are 575,338 and females are 570,373. Sex Ratio in urban region of Anantapur district is 991 as per 2011 census data.
